🚧 A417 – Maisemore Flood Closure (Active)
The most significant issue today is the continued closure of the A417 at Maisemore due to flooding associated with the River Severn.
Status: CLOSED between the A40 and The Rudge.
⚠️ Important: Drivers should not attempt to pass closure points or drive through floodwater. Road closures are in place for safety and conditions beneath floodwater are unpredictable.
Advice: Avoid the area entirely and follow clearly signed official diversion routes.
🌊 Wider Flood Conditions
Flooding continues to affect low-lying routes and rural lanes near the River Severn and surrounding areas.
Drivers should remain particularly cautious around:
• Sandhurst
• Apperley
• Tirley
• Tewkesbury & surrounding low-lying roads
Do not attempt to cross submerged roads — depth and road integrity cannot be judged visually.
🚧 Gloucester City Centre – Roadworks & Restrictions
–Sinope Street (The Docks)
Closed today between 09:30 and 15:30 for lining works. Access remains local only.
If you’re travelling toward Gloucester Quays, the docks, or nearby central routes, allow additional time or use alternative approaches.
– London Road / Black Dog Way Junction
Ongoing construction works continue in this area.
• Right turn from London Road onto Black Dog Way remains closed
• Drivers should use the nearby roundabout for access

The scheduled weeknight closure of the A417 Missing Link (Brockworth to Air Balloon) remains in force tonight:

➡️ Follow the official A46 / A40 / A429 diversion route
(This does not affect current daytime travel but is important for late-evening journeys.)
🚗 M5 & Main Routes – Midday Flow
M5: Traffic is generally flowing steadily into Cheltenham and Gloucester with no major incidents reported this morning.
Southbound toward Bristol: Drivers should remain aware of ongoing long-term works on the A38 Gloucester Road (South Gloucestershire), where lane restrictions may influence journey times.
Conditions: Expect surface spray and exercise caution on all primary routes.
