Here is what you need to know right now π

π§ A417 β Maisemore Flood Closure (Active)
The most significant issue today is the continued closure of the A417 at Maisemore due to flooding associated with the River Severn.
Status: CLOSED between the A40 and The Rudge.
β οΈ Important: Drivers should not attempt to pass closure points or drive through floodwater. Road closures are in place for safety and conditions beneath floodwater are unpredictable.
Advice: Avoid the area entirely and follow clearly signed official diversion routes.
π Wider Flood Conditions
Flooding continues to affect low-lying routes and rural lanes near the River Severn and surrounding areas.
Drivers should remain particularly cautious around:
β’ Sandhurst
β’ Apperley
β’ Tirley
β’ Tewkesbury & surrounding low-lying roads
Do not attempt to cross submerged roads β depth and road integrity cannot be judged visually.
π§ Gloucester City Centre β Roadworks & Restrictions
–Sinope Street (The Docks)
Closed today between 09:30 and 15:30 for lining works. Access remains local only.
If youβre travelling toward Gloucester Quays, the docks, or nearby central routes, allow additional time or use alternative approaches.
– London Road / Black Dog Way Junction
Ongoing construction works continue in this area.
β’ Right turn from London Road onto Black Dog Way remains closed
β’ Drivers should use the nearby roundabout for access

β‘οΈ Follow the official A46 / A40 / A429 diversion route
(This does not affect current daytime travel but is important for late-evening journeys.)
π M5 & Main Routes β Midday Flow
M5: Traffic is generally flowing steadily into Cheltenham and Gloucester with no major incidents reported this morning.
Southbound toward Bristol: Drivers should remain aware of ongoing long-term works on the A38 Gloucester Road (South Gloucestershire), where lane restrictions may influence journey times.
Conditions: Expect surface spray and exercise caution on all primary routes.
βοΈ Weather & Road Conditions
Forecast: Overcast with scattered showers persisting.
Road conditions: Extremely wet in places. Standing water remains a hazard, particularly on rural and untreated lanes.
Allow greater stopping distances and reduce speed where necessary.
