<strong><u>🚨 UPDATE 2:40PM – TRAFFIC & FLOODING STATUS</u></strong>
Flood-related disruption continues across parts of Gloucestershire this afternoon.
<strong>A417 – Maisemore</strong>
🚨 The route remains <strong>CLOSED</strong> due to flooding.
• Diversions remain in place
• Avoid the area where possible
• Conditions can change quickly on nearby low-lying roads
<strong>M5 – Gloucester Area</strong>
⚠️ Live traffic monitoring services are indicating a <strong>reported incident</strong> on the <strong>northbound carriageway between J12 and J11A</strong>.
• No full closure currently confirmed
• Drivers may experience minor delays
• Allow extra time if travelling northbound
<strong>Flood Conditions Reminder</strong>
Even where water levels appear lower, road closures remain until highways inspections confirm routes are safe.
Please do not move closure signs or attempt to drive through floodwater.

⛔ FLOOD CLOSURES (MAJOR IMPACT)
A417 – Maisemore
🚨 The A417 at Maisemore is CLOSED in both directions due to flooding.
Location: Between the A40 (Over Roundabout) and The Rudge.
Impact: Traffic is diverting via the A40 and A48, which may lead to heavier-than-normal congestion on the Highnam / Over approaches into Gloucester.
⚠️ Even where water levels fluctuate, closures remain until highways inspections confirm the route is safe.
Bus Services:
Stagecoach Service 351 is operating on diversion.
Tewkesbury & Surrounding Routes
The following roads are still reported as affected by flooding / closures:
• B4213 (Haw Bridge)
• Swilgate Road
• Northway Lane
• Sandhurst Lane
⚠️ Conditions on low-lying routes can change quickly. Drivers should follow signed diversions and avoid floodwater.
🚧 ROADWORKS & LONG-TERM CLOSURES
Forest of Dean – Lydney
⛔ The B4234 Forest Road remains closed long-term for major works.
🗓 Closure expected to continue through to August.
🚌 Stagecoach Service 23 remains on diversion
🛣 M5 (Overnight Works Completed)
Last night’s planned overnight restrictions on the M5 have now lifted.
✅ The motorway is open this morning, though drivers should remain alert for works signage and speed restrictions in active areas.
Cheltenham
Traffic is expected to be moving normally following recent localised patching works.
